Interesting articles to read for November 11, 2008

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Some interesting articles to read:

A Georgia Republican Congressman is warning of a possible Obama “dictatorship.” How I would like to just laugh this off … but I can’t.

It looks like the great Obama Agenda for his first term has suddenly disappeared from the Obama website! They say they are retooling the site. Yeah. Or … now that he’s elected the old agenda is no longer operative?

The Republicans have been beaten badly in two straight elections. Time for some big changes. Are they up to it?

From the Wall Street Journal: (D.) for Vendetta.

From George Will: Obama and the Founder’s Intent.

How do you define the push by the unions to end the secret ballot in union elections? Well, “creepy” would work.

We have a new warning from Osama bin Laden about a new al Qaeda attack that will “outdo by far” September 11th.

All hail the age of the intellectuals!

For you global warming nut-jobs out there, take a look at this map. The areas in blue all experienced below-normal temperatures for 2008. Yeah, we really need to deal with this global warming threat.

Barack Obama plans to have his cabinet set and ready to “rule” by the end of this month.

From David Limbaugh: “The most unnerving aspects about the Democrats’ sweeping victory Nov. 4 are their intolerance for dissent and their willingness to censor and otherwise suppress their opponents.”

But there are some Bush appointees that will remain in power as Obama transitions to the presidency.

Now American Express is in trouble. Evidently one of the ways to help them out is to turn them into a bank holding company. I’m just wondering … now that there is so much talk of government bailouts for so many companies, is it possible that people think they can get away with not paying their debts now?

Some sad news to report … Howard Dean is stepping down as DNC chair. Arrrrhhhhhgggggggg!

There is in-house fighting between Democrats over who will be the chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee … right now Henry Waxman wants his grubby little paws on the chairmanship. Waxman, in case you don’t know, is generally anti-business. Just the guy we need on the Commerce Committee.

Did anybody doubt that the Bush’s were going to be friendly to the Obama’s as they visited the White House yesterday? People seem shocked by this. Bush has class. Much more than Clinton … and we’ll see about Obama.

There’s a lot of talk right now about who will emerge as a leader in the Republican Party for 2012 … and the person on a lot of people’s minds is Newt Gingrich.

Reuters has declared that media bias was largely unseen in the US presidential race. Yeah…. Right.

Here’s a statistic that shouldn’t shock you. Almost 90% of Muslims voted for Barack Obama in the election.

There is no doubt that Barack Obama will change our relations with Cuba. This could mean lifting the embargo and having direct talks with the Castro brothers.

How much would you pay to attend Barack Obama’s inauguration? The asking price could be over $20,000. But don’t worry, Dianne Feinstein is already drafting legislation that would make it illegal to sell tickets.

This should tell you something … for the first time in history the Postal Service is going to lay off workers.

How much of your tax dollars are spent on your town’s Christmas decorations? Some things are about to change.

A man in the UK was taken to court because his trash can fell over and the government fined him for “incorrectly placed his rubbish bags beside his collecting receptacle.”

A Boeing 737 flying in Europe had to make an emergency landing after it was attacked by birds.

The world’s ugliest dog has died.

Democrats and Republicans: An American recipe for disaster

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

This election year has probably been the most pathetic elections ever!  The Democrats started off the year attacking the Republicans on the War in Iraq and then all of a sudden the strategy changed when the economy went in the tank and started blaming the Republicans for not having enough regulations in the banking industry.  Then the Republicans blamed the Democrats, escpecially Clinton for allowing the banking industry to be more lax on credit scores and allowing people who really couldn’t afford a home to purchase homes. But in reality it was a combination of bad decisions by the people who bought homes they couldn’t afford, Americans racking up credit card debt, banks loaning out the money, wall street trading bad home loans like it was stock and both Democrats and Republicans for protecting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which had spent nearly $200 million on lobbying and campaign contributions.

But then the government, both Democrats and Republicans, decided that the taxpayers should start bailing out all these bad decisions.  There was President Bush and Nancy Pelosi standing side by side shoving that bailout bill down our throats, a bill containing loads of pork.  Sponsor:Rep. Patrick Kennedy [D-RI]show cosponsors (274).

Not only did this bill contain pork but the original house bill was introduced under a different name: Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, also called the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.  Mar 5, 2008: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by roll call vote. The totals were 268 Ayes, 148 Nays, 13 Present/Not Voting. View Votes (House of Representatives roll no. 101.)

The bill was never approved by the Senate in this form. It was later co-opted by the Senate as the “vehicle” for the quick passage of the economic stimulus bill, by replacing the entire text of the measure with the stimulus bill.  You see how dirty these bastards are!  Americans always bitch about politicians, but they seem to think that the politician that represents them isn’t the dirty pig, but the truth is: THEY ARE! If you vote straight line Democrat or Republican, you are screwed up in the head and you’re going to keep messing the country up as long as you keep voting the way that you do.  To be honest with you, this year, when I vote, I am NOT voting for any incumbents because they don’t deserve the vote.

Then Obama and the Democrats suggested another stimulus bill, yeah, like the first stimulus bill really helped.  People just ended up saving that money and not spending it.  And then McCain came up with a solution of using $300 billion to help homeowners with their mortgages. This is all about creating more government and more government spending.  What the hell, does our government think that we’ll just print more money?  We owe China and Japan over $1 trillion dollars in loan on top of the hundreds of billions of dollars that we owe other countries.

Then there was the vote on FISA reform this year which passed by a landslide.   And by the way, the Liberals beloved Barack Obama voted aye for it!  Jun 20, 2008: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by roll call vote. The totals were 293 Ayes, 129 Nays, 13 Present/Not Voting.  View Votes (House of Representatives roll no. 437).  Jul 9, 2008: This bill passed in the Senate by roll call vote. The totals were 69 Ayes, 28 Nays, 3 Present/Not Voting.  View Votes (Senate roll no. 168).

Then the talk about universal healthcare!  If you bother to read and do research on countries who have socialized healthcare, you’d see that it just isn’t working!  Even Massachusetts healthcare system is bankrupting the state. The state has had to raise its spending estimates on the healthcare program from $472 million to $625 million and from $725 million to $869 million for next year. That is almost double of what they had expected. The newly government-insured people are having a hard time finding a primary care physician. And the number of low-income residents using the emergency room for non-emergency care has actually risen since this program went into place.  And then there is Medicare which is slashing hospital payments for medical mistakes resulting in patient harm and higher costs to the sprawling federal health plan for the elderly and disabled. And where the hell do you think that we are going to get the money for universal healthcare?  Make everyone pay a 75% income tax?  Besides, healthcare isn’t a right, it is a service performed by another individual on an individual!

Then there is the Republicans and god.  My suggestion to the Republicans on religion, quit while you are not ahead.  When you bring up god in your speeches you look like a freak!  There is no god that tells you to do something, you control your thoughts and decisions, not some non existent deity!  Nobody needs Jesus in their life.  I’m a former alcoholic and I didn’t need to goto church and find god to fix my problem, I did it on my own.  Now I nearly killed myself when I learned my lesson, but, the point is I didn’t need some touch of faith to figure out that I needed to stop doing what I was doing.

How about the Internal Revenue Service?  What a freaking joke that is.  Once again, another branch of government that is just about worthless.  Our tax code is currently 60,000 pages long and the current tax system is actually more regressive than progressive.  It is also not friendly to business, which is why corporations are being moved overseas which is causing a loss of jobs.  Corporations are running to countries with low corporate tax rates or flat tax rates.  One question I would like answered is why should someone who is a high achiever have to pay more to support low achievers who are not willing to make their lives better?   We need a simpler, fairer and more transparent tax system.  Which most members of both parties are not willing to budge on because if you remove the IRS you are removing the government out of our lives.

There is currently a bill in the house and senate to simplify our tax system and get rid of the IRS, it is called the Fair Tax Act.

Do you know what the FairTax Act is?

* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
* Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Abolishes the IRS

For more information visit www.fairtax.org.

Finally, there is the forced government take over of our financial system. Our government basically told these banks either you sell to us or your done! Federal officials set conditions, telling the banks they could not raise their dividends without government permission and could not offer their executives new retirement packages, though the old packages would remain intact.  There is a risk that banks will take the new government capital and use it to bolster their balance sheets but still not resume lending, and the Treasury is not getting any specific contractual guarantee to prevent that from happening.

So as you can see, government is not the answer, we need less government intervention and allow people and corporations to make mistakes and fix them on their own.  But both parties are for more government, it’s just that the Democrats want to get there faster than the Republicans.  We need to start being smart about who we are voting for and looking at other parties like the Libertarian party and Independents.  We can no longer let these two parties run this great country of ours into the ground.  We still have the opportunity to vote and make better choices for our country, so just remember that when you goto the polls this Nov. 4th.  And instead of voting for every Democrat or every Republican think about what has happened this past year and their betrayal to the American people.

Survey shows many Americans trust God more than doctors to save lives

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Here’s the quote from the article. Read this and then let’s discuss.

An eye-opening survey reveals widespread belief that divine intervention can revive dying patients. And, researchers said, doctors “need to be prepared to deal with families who are waiting for a miracle.”

More than half of randomly surveyed adults — 57 percent — said God’s intervention could save a family member even if physicians declared treatment would be futile. And nearly three-quarters said patients have a right to demand such treatment.

When asked to imagine their own relatives being gravely ill or injured, nearly 20 percent of doctors and other medical workers said God could reverse a hopeless outcome.

The first thing I’d like to know is what is the demographic of the people they surveyed. For all we know they could have surveyed 100 religious extremist freaks who also believe they don’t need to work because, “God will provide.” Sure, it says its a random survey but I want more details.

I know that when someone you care about is sick or dying people are going to pray that they survive. Regardless of how religious a person is, praying always seems to be an instinctive reaction to a situation like that. But as soon as you start saying that God has more power than the doctors I start to say, “Whoa, wait a minute here people.”

What scares me here is not the people who keep praying long after the doctor says that there is nothing more they can do. What scares me are the people who ignore doctors because they believe that God will take care of them.

Guess what people? If there is a God out there, he created doctors for a reason.

Conservative group going nuts over a bill in California celebrating “Gay Day”

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

A conservative group is warning parents about a bill under consideration in the California state Senate that requires public schools to have an official “Gay Day.”

Oh dear, a group of religious freaks are going crazy over celebrating Harvey Milk who was the first openly homosexual person to be elected to public office in a major U.S. city. He was a former San Francisco Board of Supervisors member, who was assassinated by a former Board of Supervisor in 1978. Let’s see here, don’t religious freaks celebrate someone who allegedly existed, I don’t know, several times a year. They have Christmas, Easter, Ash Wednesday and Passover. Am I missing any other “Holy” days? So why can’t we celebrate someone who was gay and ACTUALLY contributed something to society?

Labor Day being replaced by Eid al-Fitr for Tyson Foods employees in TN

Monday, August 4th, 2008

A Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville, TN will no longer give its workers a paid holiday on Labor Day. Instead, the workers will be given a holiday on Eid al-Fitr. This day marks the end of Ramadan, which is the Muslim holy month of fasting.

You can thank the unions for this one. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union secured the new 5-year contract with the plant in order to accommodate Muslim workers. Of the 1,200 people who work at the plant, nearly 700 are Muslims.

It’s only a matter of time when our government will be caving in to these demands.

Speaking of Muslims. Portland, Oregon is having a battle with Muslim women over their right to use public pools. A group of Somali women asked the Portland Parks and Recreation to accommodate them by giving them an after-hours, women-only swim time at a government pool, which would be staffed only by female lifeguards. Do you know why? Because Islam won’t allow women to appear in bathing suits in front of men who aren’t members of their immediate family.

They are proposing to rent one of the government pools after normal business hours. They would arrange to have a female lifeguard on duty and they would shield the women from being seen by the public by hanging curtains around the pool.

The Muslim women speaking on behalf of the issue says that everyone should have the right to exercise and good health. So now good health and exercise is a “right”? I can’t wait until it becomes government mandated that all the fat asses in America have to get their golf ball dimpled asses and thighs to the gym. That would stir an outrage.

But the city of Portland said no because it discriminates against male lifeguards and appears that the city is endorsing Islam. Good for Portland.

Barack Obama leaves a note to “God” in Jersualem

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Now here is something disgusting. Barack Obama leaving a note to “God” at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. In the note, placed at Judaism’s holiest site Thursday, Obama asks “God” to guide him and guard his family.

“Lord — Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will,” reads the note published in Maariv.

A little tip for you Obama, you we’re probably better off going to Walt Disney World and writing a letter to Mickey Mouse, you actually may have gotten a response from that.

The political issues that I do and do not support as a Libertarian

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

A reader recently sent me an article on the Libertarian party, it’s growth and how it affects the Presidential election. Also in the article it shows that Libertarians are basically all over the map on issues. Here is an excerpt from the article:

What do Libertarians believe?
As befitting a party with the word “liberty” embedded in its name, Libertarians prize individual freedom above all, and believe that government should play the smallest possible role in the economy and in people’s lives. “Think of us,” the Libertarian Party declares on its official website, “as a group of people with a ‘live and let live’ mentality and a balanced checkbook.” Though their symbol is the Statue of Liberty, Libertarians also identify with the porcupine, whose prickliness underscores one of their favorite mottoes, “The right to be left alone.”

As I read through this article: Briefing: The rise of the Libertarians and I decided that I would list what I support:

I support the Bill of Rights: One thing that I feel really strong on is separation of church and state. I can’t stand when these politicians get involved with religious communities. I can’t stand that “In God We Trust” is on our currency. I can’t stand when they sing “God Bless America” during the 7th inning of baseball games. It’s a nice song, but I’m just not down with it. And I cant stand “One nation under god” in the Pledge of Allegiance. Did you know the Knights of Columbus in New York City felt that the pledge was incomplete without any reference to a deity. Appealing to the authority of Abraham Lincoln, the Knights felt that the words “under God” which were from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address were most appropriate to add to the Pledge. In New York City on April 22, 1951, the Board of Directors of the Knights of Columbus adopted a resolution to amend their recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance at the opening of each of the meetings of the 800 Fourth Degree Assemblies of the Knights of Columbus by addition of the words “under God” after the words “one nation.”

I support gay marriages and adoption. I just blogged about this so need to explain.

I support abortion rights: It’s a nice population controller, plus, I feel that teenagers have no business having babies due to maturity reasons. Also if a woman was raped and she becomes pregnant with that monsters baby.

I support euthanasia which would allow a person to end their life in dignity after having received every available type of medical care and their condition has not or will not improve.

I am not much of a supporter on medical research on finding cures for cancer, AIDS and etc. I do support privately funded but not government funded research. I just recently post an article on the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research because ESPN runs this once a year. But, I feel that we need disease as a population controller. I consider my self “pro-death”.

I support to abolish the IRS for a simpler tax system. When we pay income tax, we are basically being forced to pay for someone who doesn’t want to be responsible for their life. I believe that we should not be taxed on our incomes, but on goods and services. Think about it for a second. Say for instance we had a 23% tax on goods and services. Well, wealthy people buy more and expensive items, so they will be the ones that get hurt the most in paying the tax. Also, we have approximately 12 million illegal immigrants who live here in the U.S. and do not pay tax. Well, they will have no choice in paying tax now since it will be on consumables. Visit www.fairtax.org.

I support the “War on Terror”. I’ll tell you what, most Americans don’t think that terrorism is a major issue. Well, when the day comes when they bring a nuke up in here, it’s going to make for a far worse day than 9/11. Whatever city gets hit with it, you are gonna see hundreds of thousands of Americans looking like fried chicken running around. And that’s because we have failed to acknowledge that there is a radical Islamic movement that hates us. It’s all about some stupid ass religion. I’d rather get shot in the head and robbed by some scum bag than die at the hands of some stupid ass religious martyr. I refuse to die for anyone’s freak ass religion.

I do not support the “War on Drugs”. It wastes $46 billion a year on taxpayer money. I’m a proponent of decriminalizing drugs and offering non-violent drug offenders rehabilitation. Hell, I’m all for legalizing and regulating drugs. The U.S. actually condones idiocy and I’m all for it. Go ahead and do your coke, heroin, meth and etc. Just don’t be bringing that shit out of your home or in front of kids. It’s just like don’t drink and drive. Kill yourself with it for all I care, we need population reduction anyways. Marijuana definitely needs to get legalized. More and more states are starting to decriminalize it. I feel that alcohol abuse is more devastating than being a pot smoker. I was never big on the old pot, but I drank, believe me I drank myself close to death.

I support education vouchers for our children. Our kids should have the choice of what school they want to attend. This should not be handled by the federal government. This should be handled by state and local governments.

I do not support a universal healthcare system. Socialized healthcare systems that exist are all failing. The taxpayers of these systems feel the pain from this. Also, you do not get the greatest healthcare in these systems, because there are not enough doctors to handle the influx of people coming in. So you get long waiting lines for medical services. People need to start putting money into Health Saving Accounts.

I do not support in having many entitlement programs. I understand people do lose jobs, people become disabled and they do need help. But there is a huge portion of Americans out there who abuse these systems and refuse to apply or reapply themselves to take responsibility of their lives.

I support legalizing prostitution. You make them take a test for disease every week and you make them pay income tax. If we had the fair tax, then it would be alot easier to collect taxes from them.

I support reduction of immigration to the U.S. We are the only country in the world that allows the type of immigration we do. We immigrate over 1 million people a year. We need to have stricter laws on illegal immigrants also. Illegal immigrants are invaders not citizens.

I support privatizing Social Security. Social Security is bankrupt and when I retire in 33 years I will never see it. We need to have personal retirement accounts. America, it’s time to start saving and stop spending. We need to become savers. The way that private Social Security would work is that the Government would force employers to offer basically almost a 401k type plan where you are forced to put a certain percentage of income into this retirement account, you pick what you want to invest in and that’s it, the money is YOURS! It doesn’t go into a big pot, where everyone is putting their grubby hands into.

I JUST WANT THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE!

McCain says that he does not support gay adoption

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Advocates for gay and lesbian families are denouncing Sen. John McCain, an adoptive father himself, for opposing adoptions by gays, which prompted his presidential campaign to clarify Tuesday that he does not seek a federal ban on the practice.

Well at least he is not seeking a federal ban. The only state that does not allow gay adoption is the state of Florida. I have no problem with gays adopting a child. I would rather have a gay married couple adopt and raise a child than let some punk ass teenager raise the kid into a thug. Besides that, generally, teens mommy and daddy end up raising the kid. I feel that gay couples can give the same amount of love, if not more, than a heterosexual couple. The whole thing with people who are against gay marriage and adoption is because of religious morals. And I’m not down with religion. There is so much hypocrisy with religion, especially in Christianity. How can you judge someone when Jesus(who allegedly existed) was judged? According to the Walt Disney Tale, he was beatin to a pulp and then crucified.

Anyways, I’ve seen how parenting is these days and it is just absolutely horrible. Alot of people just have no freakin’ clue on what they are doing. They think that they’re supposed to be friends with their kids. Umm, NO! You need to show that kid who is boss. More parents need to be nosy peckers in their kids lives. Just like Obama said “Parents if you don’t parent, we can’t improve our schools,” he said. “You’ve got to parent. You’ve got to turn off the television set in your house once in a while, you’ve got to put the video game away once in a while.” Now I don’t know if he’s just saying this to attract voters or he really believes it, but it is right. You’ve got to show authority or they will never respect you. Do you know what respect is, respect is when your child says “I hate you!” Congratulations, you’ve done your job.

The Army discriminated against an atheist soldier

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

jeremy-hallA US Army soldier is suing the military because he says that he was being discriminated against for being an atheist. Army Spc. Jeremy Hall says that he was threatened by other troops and denied promotions because he was told that if he would not pray with the troops then he would not make a good leader.

This is why I believe that religion is bad for people. People’s minds get so warped that they can’t accept anyone who does not share the same beliefs that they do. Here is a guy risking his life to serve this country and fight in Iraq who has to fear getting attacked by fellow soldiers as much as Iraqis. Something is very wrong here. Stop pushing religion on people who don’t want to be a part of it.

The Bush administration has used fear as a tactic to get us to believe that this war is a good thing and that Muslims are evil. But it is not just the brown skinned Muslims in the middle east we should worry about. It is the extremist Christians, John and Jane the shiny white next door neighbors who are trying to push the Christian religion into our lives. It’s those same people who murder doctors that are performing abortions. It’s those same people who raise their children to be unaccepting of other people and other beliefs. Clearly the military is becoming a religious organization and pretty soon we will see more and more laws being passed that are based on some sort of religious belief.

One of the founding principles of this country is religious freedom. People settled here to escape religious persecution but now we have become the persecutors and we are moving more and more towards adopting Christianity as the national religion.

What I am glad to see in this story is that Jeremy Hall is not seeking any compensation. It’s not about money, it’s about FREEDOM. I congratulate him for staying strong and sticking to his convictions. He is truly someone who fights for freedom.

Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master.-- George Washington
