How Obama Gets Things Done

Barack Obama .. he’s a do whatever you have to do to win kinda guy. Don’t you just love that about him? So … how does Obama plan to ram through his healthcare and energy schemes? After all, he doesn’t have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Surely there’s something he can do. As a matter of fact, there is! He will use a procedural tactic that would only require 50 votes in order to pass the Senate. Here’s the deal. You include your health “reforms” in a budget reconciliation bill. These bills require only 50 votes to pass and no filibuster is permitted. Peter Orszag is the director of the Office of Management and Budget. Now he says that he would prefer that this budget reconciliation process not be used, but, after all, health care is crucial … and when you dealing with something so very important like this you may just have to use some awkward tactics. After all … as Orszag says, healthcare is “the key to our fiscal future.” More like the key to increased government dependency.  Read the full story.

How To Not Make Money

I’ve been telling you that Barack Obama’s plans to tax the evil, filthy ugly rich is going to lead to an economic shutdown. At some point, the achievers are going to give up. They are going to get sick and tired of working hard to achieve and succeed and see their earned wealth be taken away by the point of a gun and given to someone to buy tire shine for the wheels on their house.  Read the full story.

The Mortgage Plan

Barack Obama released details of his plan to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. The good news is I have yet to find a provision that would allow bankruptcy judges to reduce the principal amount due under a mortgage loan. Maybe that’s been dumped … or maybe it comes later and under the radar. As it stands now mortgage modification will occur only if borrowers provide their most recent tax return and two pay stubs, as well as an “affidavit of financial hardship.” In the affidavit, they have to cite the reasons behind their financial woes, like losing a job or some drop in income. Oh and by the way, mortgages for single-family properties that are worth more than $729,750 are excluded from the program. The borrower will also have to show that they exhausted all remedies in personal negotiations with the lender before they will be allowed in the bankruptcy court. That great symbol of government education, Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California, refers to this process as “going through all that mess.”  Read the full story.

The Latest From The Tax Cheat

Unless you haven’t really been paying attention, you must realize by now that Obama’s plans to increase taxes on every American by increasing the cost of energy in this country. We’ve been through this routine before. But now we have a new line from the Obama administration …  Read the full story.
