Facts about the Democratic spending bill

House minority leader John Boehner distributed an email this week containing some details about the Democrat’s “stimulus” plan.   Mr. Boehner voted against HR 1424, which was the bailout bill for Wall Street. Tell me if you feel this is an economic stimulus plan or just blowing smoke up our asses so they can spend on the projects that they have been jerking themselves off to for the past 8 years.

A Dozen Fun Facts About the House Democrats’ Massive Spending Bill:

1. The House Democrats’ bill will cost each and every household $6,700 additional debt, paid for by our children and grandchildren.

2. The total cost of this one piece of legislation is almost as much as the annual discretionary budget for the entire federal government.

3. President-elect Obama has said that his proposed stimulus legislation will create or save three million jobs. This means that this legislation will spend about $275,000 per job. The average household income in the U.S. is $50,000 a year.

4. The House Democrats’ bill provides enough spending - $825 billion - to give every man, woman, and child in America $2,700.

5. $825 billion is enough to give every person living in poverty in the U.S. $22,000.

6. $825 billion is enough to give every person in Ohio $72,000.

7. Although the House Democrats’ proposal has been billed as a transportation and infrastructure investment package, in actuality only $30 billion of the bill - or three percent - is for road and highway spending. A recent study from the Congressional Budget Office said that only 25 percent of infrastructure dollars can be spent in the first year, making the one year total less than $7 billion for infrastructure.

8. Much of the funding within the House Democrats’ proposal will go to programs that already have large, unexpended balances. For example, the bill provides $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which already have $16 billion on hand. And, this year, Congress has plans to rescind $9 billion in highway funding that the states have not yet used.

9. In 1993, the unemployment rate was virtually the same as the rate today (around seven percent). Yet, then-President Clinton’s proposed stimulus legislation ONLY contained $16 billion in spending.

10. Here are just a few of the programs and projects that have been included in the House Democrats’ proposal:

  • $650 million for digital TV coupons.
  • $6 billion for colleges/universities - many which have billion dollar endowments.
  • $166 billion in direct aid to states - many of which have failed to budget wisely.
  • $50 million in funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
  • $44 million for repairs to U.S. Department of Agriculture headquarters.
  • $200 million for the National Mall, including grass planting.
  • $400 million for “National Treasures.”

11. Almost one-third of the so called tax relief in the House Democrats’ bill is spending in disguise, meaning that true tax relief makes up only 24 percent of the total package - not the 40 percent that President-elect Obama had requested.

12. $825 billion is just the beginning - many Capitol Hill Democrats want to spend even more taxpayer dollars on their “stimulus” plan.

Sadly, John Boehner and his fellow republicans have ZERO credibility on the issue of controlling spending. Despite controlling both houses, the executive branch and enjoying widespread popular support, they not only failed to cut spending, they willfully expanded the scope and size of the federal governments budget and reach beyond the dreams of even the biggest tax and spend liberals in DC. It was Bush and Paulson that proposed and pushed for the banking bailout which allowed companies to pay billions in bonuses to execs of money losing banks. with zero accountability or benefit to the taxpayers funding the bill.

The reality is that neither party is showing any accountability to the taxpayer, but the republicans had their chance and blew it completely. They have zero credibility and deserve zero support.

Hello, i see that you are a die heart liberal and so was i; But as i have progessed on my path to aquire higher education (something most Democrats’ do not get to experience unless it’s paid and paved by republicans, or athletic ability) i felt that liberal speding is only facilitating laziness. Ask your self, is it really fair to take more from someone because they work harder? If our countries founders came to america in support of a better life where each man is given a equal opportunity to succeed and each man’s wealth can only be measured by his own deeds and actions. What we have to day is more like “Robin Hood”, where he(Obama) steels from the rich and gives to the lazy or those who have figured out a way to soley live off of tax pays dime. I will give you a real life example: I am a senior about to graduate Texas A&M and have worked fulltime to support and put my self throught school, i have tryed to apply for financial aid a number of time but been turn down every time solely because i work full time and the 14,000 a year. My brother goes to the University of Houston (much cheaper tuition than A&M) and has never had a job in his life. Not only was he approved for finacial aid but he got so much that he had extra after paying for books and etc. He was approved because he didnt pay or file taxes. Actually I was told by my academic advisor that if I quit my job I would fall under the narrow umbrella of financial aid and I would not have to work while enrolled. After thinking long and hard over the subject I declined the financial aid form and showed up to work the Monday morning because I realized that is wrong to take a hand out if you have a hand to take it with. Many Democrats would argue with me because this corrupt and usually criminal science of making a living off of tax dollars is even hard for most democrats to understand. To sum all this up I ask you to remember one of or greatest Democrats in American history by saying “Ask not what your country can do for you–ask what you can do for your country
