Make less money, that’s alright, we’ll penalize non-union workers who make more

A Councilman in Albany, New York has come up with a way for those making less money to get a raise, by penalizing non-union workers who make more money.

“Councilman Glen Casey said he proposes forcing non-unionized employees who make more than $55,000 a year take 10 days of mandatory unpaid time off. Casey said he would then use the savings to give raises to those who make under $40,000 a year.”

All he wants to do is spread the wealth.  Sounds like he took a page right out of Barack Obama’s School of Economics book.  This is how he plans on achieving this:

Albany Common Council members say they’ll figure out a plan to make sure non-unionized city employees get raises. Mayor Jerry Jennings has proposed eliminating raises and several other cuts in his 2009 budget proposal which calls for less spending with a property tax increase of nearly five percent.

and the number of non-union jobs is plummeting in this country. What about the non-unioners struggling on minimum wage with no representation.
