TIME Magazine June 24, 1974: Another Ice Age?

On June 24, 1974 an article in Time magazine was published. The article is called Another Ice Age?

In Africa, drought continues for the sixth consecutive year, adding terribly to the toll of famine victims. During 1972 record rains in parts of the U.S., Pakistan and Japan caused some of the worst flooding in centuries. In Canada’s wheat belt, a particularly chilly and rainy spring has delayed planting and may well bring a disappointingly small harvest. Rainy Britain, on the other hand, has suffered from uncharacteristic dry spells the past few springs. A series of unusually cold winters has gripped the American Far West, while New England and northern Europe have recently experienced the mildest winters within anyone’s recollection.

I don’t want to hear any bullshit about it being 34 years ago, because remember scientists already developed nuclear power in the 40’s and we put man on the moon in 1969. So they were intelligent enough to understand things back then. These people were not idiots.

As you read this article you will discover that all the items in this article 34 years ago nearly resembles all this crap that they are feeding us now. If you read everything I quoted out loud to someone they would surely think that you were talking about 2008 and not 1974. Environmentalists can kiss my “F’N” ASS! You people are so full of shit about humans causing global warming! Stop trying to use global warming and ice ages as scare tactics in order to politicize the environment and help the people who have something to gain financially.

Everyone needs to read the rest of this article from TIME’s official website.

What we should be talking about is catastrophic climate change. Global warming could change ocean currents, increase cloud cover (which would reflect sunlight away from the Earth’s surface) and, in that way, trigger an ice age.

It seems clear that our climate is becoming unstable. Our modern economy, infrastructures and, of course, agricultural industries were developed during, and depend upon, our current climate.

Climate change has been a part of Earth’s history since long before any industrial activity by humans, as reflected in the fossil record, tree ring analysis and even human documentation. The last glacial period ended about 15,000 years ago. 15,000 years ago there weren’t seven billion people populating the planet. THAT’S the problem. Whether it gets very hot or very cold, we are not going to be able to sustain our massive numbers. We will die of drought, famine and pestilence.

    Happy Thanksgiving.
