Bush puts pressure on Congress to lift offshore drilling moratorium
President Bush is upping the ante Monday in the debate with the Democratic Congress over offshore domestic drilling, announcing he will lift the executive branch ban, to increase pressure on legislators to follow suit.Almost a month ago, Mr. Bush called on Congress to lift their ban on offshore drilling and said he would lift the presidential ban, instituted by his father in 1990, whenever Democrats did the same.
Well it’s about freakin’ time that he made the first move. He should of done this a long ass time ago, but he was trying to get some unity with Congress on this issue. The Democrats have been stubborn and have kept pointing the finger at the oil companies saying that they were driving up the prices and they already have areas for drilling. But why would the oil companies pay $145 a barrel if they knew that they could get their own oil and make a much larger profit?
Here is what I feel that Congress needs to do:
1) Force automobile manufacturers that they need to start making 50% of the cars they build to either be able to use ethanol and it doesn’t have to be corn, it could be coal and also the use of natural gas.
2) Tell the oil companies to stick it up their ass! Let them know that they better get into the business of ethanol and natural gas. No more protecting the oil companies!
3) Tell the environmentalists to stick it up their ass! We are digging in Alaska and the Gulf to tide us over until we get our alternative fuels. Colorado, Wyoming and Utah have oil too! It’s located in the shale rock. It is estimated that there are two trillion barrels of unexplored oil shale right here in the United States.
4) Tell OPEC to stick it up their ass! We will no longer deal with people who want to cause harm to The United States! Did you know that it only costs OPEC $2 to harvest oil and they charge us over $100 a barrel!
5) Force automobile manufacturers to start producing more fuel efficient cars that can get 100 MPG and if they need to work with NASA on that, then that’s what they need to do. If we can send man to space, put man on the moon or hell, even create bombs that can destroy entire cities, we can accomplish this.
