Taiwan social healthcare system failing
Well besides the Canadian and Massachusetts public health systems failing, the Taiwan national system is failing too. It has had some success, but recently they are starting to feel the pain of a government run system. The government is not taking in enough money to cover the services it provides, so it is borrowing money from banks. The revenue base is capped so it does not keep pace with the increase in national income. Premiums are regulated by politicians and they are afraid to raise premiums because of voters. The country is slow at adopting technology except for drugs. There is a low doctor-to-population ratio resulting in too many patients depending on too few doctors. Patients visit the doctor more frequently causing doctors to keep visits short to about 2 to 5 minutes per patient. There is no system to regulate systematic reporting of clinical performance, patient outcomes and adverse events.
I understand that there are Americans out there who can’t legitimately afford healthcare, but most Americans can if they would stop spending their money on bullshit. Quit having kids if you can’t afford them, don’t have them. Stop buying HDTV’s and new cars. We all need to make sacrifices in our lives in order to survive.
We can not have a universal healthcare system. In 2006 the U.S. government spent $786 billion on medicare and medicaid, if we went to a nationalized system we would probably triple that dollar amount. And where are we going to get the money? And don’t give me this bullshit about the war, because the war has cost the country $700 billion over 7 years. $100 billion a year is pocket change when we are talking TRILLIONS here people. Do you want to lose half your paycheck to taxes? Do you want the government to tax the hell out of corporations? Just remember when corporations have to start paying higher taxes all they have to do is sell to foreign investors overseas and then what? We lose the tax money and we lose jobs. Let me ask you, are you sure you want a nationalized health system?

Most Americans can afford health insurance? My brother had to buy his family insurance for one year once and it cost $15000. How many people can afford that, even if they don’t spend their money on ‘bullshit’?

where are you going to get the money? You already buy health insurance don’t you? Or at least most of americans do. There you go, that’s where you get it from. You cut out the hundreds of thousands of employees insurance companies have, you cut out their enormous advertising budgets, the rent they pay, their enormous profits and by creating a single payer system you save a lot of money plus that you cover everyone. Problem solved. It’s that easy. And hospitals can remain private so you still have a lot of competition

Did you see the Bunk study stating 2/3 of doctors in America want National Health Care. The doctors who did this study also conducted one in 2002 and found that the majority of doctors did not want national health care, the problem with this is that the 2 question surveys drastically differ in there 2nd question. I found this article, 60% of Physicians Surveyed Oppose Switching to a National Health Care Plan, It’s worth a read.
