Obama’s Presidential Agenda: spend, spend, spend
As the country goes further and further into debt, Barack Obama has a political agenda which aims to increase government spending. Here are some highlights of his spending spree:
Among other proposals during the course of the campaign, Obama has said he would strengthen the nation’s bridges and dams ($6 billion a year), help make men better fathers ($50 million a year) and aid Iraqis displaced by the war ($2 billion in one-time spending). Last week, he pledged to give religious and community groups $500 million a year to provide summer education to low-income children.
Other proposals are more costly. Obama wants to extend health insurance to more people (part of a $65-billion-a-year health plan), develop cleaner energy sources ($15 billion a year), curb home foreclosures ($10 billion in one-time spending) and add $18 billion a year to education spending.
The total price tag of Obama’s plans, according to his campaign, is $130 billion a year. On top of that, Obama is proposing a middle-class tax cut of about $80 billion a year.
We are talking billions and billions in spending here people. Where is this money coming from? I mean, it’s not just going to rain money from heaven and all his glorious “Change” will take place. How do you cut $80 billion in taxes and still raise $130 billion in spending. His fuzzy math just doesn’t add up.
Let’s look at some of this spending. The first one that really catches my eye is $50 million a year to make men better fathers. Are you kidding me? You know how you have better fathers? You stop irresponsible kids (and adults) from becoming parents because they don’t know how to use birth control. There are too many people who have no business having children (and no interest in being a parent) trying to raise kids. No wonder the youth is getting screwed up.
Now McCain is not calling for nearly the kind of government spending that Obama is, but he has this notion that after his first term he will balance the budget. Good luck with that senator.

Both of these candidates seem like spendthrifts to me. The one issue that stands out is health care: Obama (as your post states) wants to extend health care so that it covers more people to the tune of $65 billion a year but this figure will undoubtedly balloon (as part of medicare) as baby boomer’s start to retire and our population continues to grow.
