A “New American Revolution” we need to start moving now

Two interesting quotes from George Washington’s farewell address:

Warns against the party system. “It serves to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration….agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one….against another….it opens the door to foreign influence and corruption…thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”

On stable public credit. “…cherish public credit. One method of preserving it is to use it as sparingly as possible…avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt….it is essential that you…bear in mind, that towards the payments of debts there must be Revenue, that to have Revenue there must be taxes; that no taxes can be devised, which are not…inconvenient and unpleasant…”

This Friday is the 4th of July, a day to celebrate the Independence of America from the British. Well, we need to start a “New Revolution”, a revolution to minimize the intrusion of government into our everyday lives. It is vital for the citizens of The United States of America to recognize three factors that will accomplish this:

1) We need to pass the Fair Tax Act. What is the Fair Tax? The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.

* Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
* Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Abolishes the IRS

Bill Archer, former head of House Ways and Means Committee did a survey on the fair tax. The survey was conducted among 500 European companies. One simple question was asked, ” What would you do if the U.S. installed the FairTax.” The responses where astounding. Four hundred said they would build their next plant here. The remaining one hundred said they would move their corporate headquarters here. My guess is that this would be just the tip of the iceberg as to what would follow. Our current tax code does the exact opposite. Product labels would contain the same foreign corporate names but the labels would also contain ” MADE IN THE U.S.A.”

2) We need to set Congressional term limits. Why term limits? This is the issue that separates American citizens, who want to recapture their government, from a careerist-dominated Congress and its illegitimate bureaucratic offspring, who want to run our lives. No more pork barreling!

3) We need to give the people the power to vote elected officials of Congress out of office. We need to make these bureaucrats scared of the possibility that if they are not doing their job, we will not tolerate irresponsibility and they will lose their position.

    It’s funny you mention the fct that washington said “It opens the door to foreign influence” which is true. But other than estonia and there free trade, we don’t need it. Free Trade is the number one reason why people now, cannot afford to pay for there realestate, which has led to recession and an ultimate depression. Also, the US Government keeps giving away everything, from our jobs to US properties foreigners. So, a fair tax is a good idea, we also need to get rid of unfair trade policies.

    I may not know a lot about politics but I will say that there are a lot of good people that are loosing there jobs that are a result of poor judgement of the government and the people that believe that the same institution would “bail them out” I cant stand by and let these people that after stepping foot out of office and paid there income and med benefits are allowed to make the decisions for you and I. Just remember that This is a free medium for people to speak and vent steam but our fore fathers wanted us to take the Regine’s of this society and keep it the way it was meant to be and it also says in the constitution that if we have the means to stop the injustice we are obligated to do so.

    Delbert doesn’t know a damn thing about economics. Free trade is not the reason realestate is in the shitter. the reason is negative am loans. They were made so minorities could get loans easier. The reason people can’t get loans to begin with sometimes however is because they do not have the finances to back up the loan. Thanks to this affirmative action ideology bullshit, the government made minorities able to get loans they couldn’t pay back. So naturally people with these types of loans defaulted and went bankrupt and all these people going bankrupt is what caused realestate to go to hell. The reason the government did a bail out for fanny may and freddy mac is because it is technically the governments fault they went bank rupt for creating these retarded loans to begin with. The free market has nothing to do with it. Especially real estate of all things. There is nothing wrong with the free market other than capitalism only really works when contained with capitolism. So trading with countries that have slave labor fucks everything up. As for the people in the car industries losing their jobs thats their own damn fault. They union representatives faught to get them reduculously high pay that the auto companies can’t afford. So by getting the workers high pay checks with benefits, they lost those workers their jobs by running the company into the ground. American car manufacturers were also making garbage ass vehicles. And when you keep producing garbage people stop buying your product. The problem can fix itslef on its own. Sure some of the companies go bankrupt, and with real estate having fallen apart it is an inconvenient time but a loan is not the answer, just like a bailout wasn’t the answer. The free market system works when confined to other capitolist market systems. Real estate would have been fine if the government wouldn’t have gone fucking with it to begin with. There isn’t a government solution when government isn’t the problem. The auto industry has problems because they are competing with noncapitolist countries and american auto industies are producing garbage. Real estate has nothing to do with free trade and anyone who says otherwise simply doesn’t what they are talking about.

    It is too little, too late. The whole idea that a corrupt, tyrranical government will grow a conscience and do something in the interest of We the People is laughable. Change will not come from Obama’s “Change” (you can’t believe in), it will only come from the same source it has always come from, violent revolution. Those in Washington that hold the reigns believe themselves impervious to the will of the people, they are delusional and believe that they are untouchable. You cannot reason with a mad man, you can only enilighten him through force and suppression.

    Our government no longer represents us. They take from us that which we have rightly earned; they insert themselves as surrogate parents to our children, telling us that they no better than we; they threaten us daily with new legislation that unrravels and nullifies the US Constitution; They have openly declared war on the American people. It is time that we respond.

    Why Liberals Don’t Represent Hope

    Time and again we are hearing Barrack Obama brag about the jobs he’s going to create

    with the “stimulus plan”. He likes to tell us all how desperately jobs are needed in this

    country. It’s easy to buy into, especially if you’re one of the millions without a job right

    now or if you’re worried about losing your job. Preying on that fear and desperation is

    the only reason liberals have any chance whatsoever of getting the ridiculous “stimulus”

    bill passed in the next few days.

    The truth is that Americans don’t need jobs. Yeah, I said it. Jobs are not that important

    and will have little impact on creating any positive long term effect on the economy. It

    shouldn’t require any deep thinking (although, unfortunately these days…) for Americans

    to realize this. Jobs are a result of opportunity. You don’t just get to go out and create

    jobs like Obama thinks he can do. Any jobs created out of thin air are going to be short-

    term. Any impact they have on this recession is going to be minimal – until the jobs go

    away and we see a truly devastating impact on the economy.

    If we’re honest with ourselves, the only thing being created by this so-called “stimulus”

    plan is government projects. What happens to the “jobs” when the projects are complete?

    Are we then forced to rely on additional government projects to keep people employed?

    We all know the government can do it. Let’s face it, no one spends like the government

    can, but to what end? The government can only continue to spend at this pace if they are

    creating an income big enough to keep it up. Who pays for that? Everyone with a job, of

    course. So in the end, what is the point? How does a government created job help

    anyone?

    Opportunity, on the other hand, does serve a purpose. Remember in school when you

    learned about all the immigrants pouring into America? Do you remember why they

    came? I don’t recall anything about jobs being their primary motivation, do you? People

    flocked to this country because of the opportunities that were here for them. America

    was a country that you could go to and achieve your dreams. What America proved was

    that if people are left alone to pursue those dreams, in less than 150 years you can create

    the greatest nation the world has ever known. That is the audacity of hope.

    The flip-side of that same coin is fear. If there is a fear that hopes may fail, as hopes

    pursued by human beings are prone to do, then we must protect ourselves from our

    inherent human flaws. Out of fear we must not allow people to be taken advantage of by

    limiting their choices. Out of fear we must not allow people to be hurt by limiting

    productivity. Out of fear we must mitigate risk by forcing compliance to often unrealistic

    standards. Out of fear we must rely on someone to protect us from ourselves by asking

    for regulation that grinds opportunity to a halt. We have allowed fear to kill opportunity

    and have been doing so for almost 100 years in America.

    This President, along with this Congress, is not representing hope to the American

    people. Everything about the “stimulus plan” represents fear. The actions being taken by

    this government are all based on reactionary fears when in reality; the only thing we have

    to fear is the continued eradication of opportunity.

    If you want something to fear, consider this…

    Never in the history of the world has government ever been successful at creating

    sustainable opportunity via regulations or by spending. History shows that repeatedly,

    governments have tried and failed. The extreme examples are of course the U.S.S.R and

    Cuba. However, when you look at the countries today that have continued down a fear-

    based path of relying on government (U.K., France, Germany, Spain, and Canada) you

    can’t help but notice how amazingly unproductive and inconsequential these countries

    have become. Where is their hope? Where are their opportunities? While the

    governments of these countries do have programs in place to “take care of the people”,

    the cost of this “security” is unbearable to the people, and the consequence for these

    countries as a whole has been a loss of respect, power, and influence around the world.

    In no way, shape, or form, does this outcome represent the principles or objectives the

    United States of America was founded on.

    Opportunity is the only solution to our woes today. If there is hope that government will

    “fix” our economy, it won’t be done by spending our way out of it. It can only be done

    through massive deregulation coupled with massive cut-backs in government spending.

    Americans take a lot of pride in our form of government, and rightfully so. But it needs

    to be remembered that it is the form of government, and not the government itself, that

    made America the greatest nation the world has ever known. It is the hope, and

    opportunity created by such hope, of the people of this country that made America great.

    Even in times of great fear, we can never allow ourselves to lose sight of this undeniable

    fact. Now, more than ever, the American people, not the American government must rise

    to the occasion. We must demand that the government does less, so the real strength of

    this nation (the people) can do more. That is the hope that will save America.

    So when is it time to move against a government that steals your money. Spends it anyway they want to. Bail out companies they help destroy, and then turn back to the American people with their hand out for more of our hard earned money! We are told we should be more frugal with our income and this whole mess is essentially our own fault!!!     The government is not the problem…per se. Its just that they are misdirected and need to be put on the right path. They need to stop being directed by lobbyists and special interest groups and return to working for the people, their individual constituents.

    Congressmen are all in the pockets of the big money corporations, military industrial complex, and lobbyists already. Imposing term limits will only make that worse. If you know you job will end in 2 or 3 terms, you need to make friends with people in the private sector that much more, so you have a job when you are out.

    First, lobbying and special interest groups need to be eradicated. Any and all funds they donate must go into a common pile for all elected officials and those running for office. No way for one person to be influenced more than any other.

    Second, corporations need to have their rights vastly limited. Right now, they have the rights of a citizen yet have no morals, no soul to save, and no body to incarcerate. Watch the film “The Corporation” for more details.

    Third, military spending needs to be cut by at least 50%. There is no reason to continue down the path of Military Keynesian strategy as we have. It is a failure, continuing to be pushed my the Military Industrial Complex(MIC). It is the reason our infrastructure, schools, power grid, everything is now second rate. Watch “Why we Fight” for more details.

    Fourth, Fair Trade must replace free trade. A simple plan where anything coming into this country needs to be tarriffed based on various factors (such as quality, employments rights, workplace safety, environmental laws) of the supplying country.

    Fifth, Im all for the Fair Tax plan.

    I’m curious as to what it is going to take for the american people to revolt. How many lies are we going to need to hear, how many people have to lose jobs, homes,and life savings? Sen. Dodd blatantly lied to the people about tha AIG bonus amendment, saying he did not know who wrote the clause for the bonuses. He lied plain and simple, everyone who passed the bill either is a liar and cheat or imcompetent to be in the congress in the first place. Nobody knew who or how the clause got in there, everyone who was asked said”not me” To me this makes the U.S congress look like a bunch of lying bastards who, at the time prob thought the citizens were beneath them and incapable of understanding what was going on. The people know now and look at the responses and actions of those people, pointing fingers and blaming everyone else. How can you justify giving bonuses, comprised of taxpayer dollars, to people who ran a company into the ground? Millions of americans are losing their homes daily, while the people in wash sleep in huge mansions, and dont pay taxes for years ,until someone says something. If the avg. person fails to pay taxes for years he is punished, but in wash. they are not. If a person is busted dealing drugs, the government seizes everything they have . Madoff steals billions, and gets to keep everything. This is just the tip, the people only know a small percent of what went wrong. Throughout history the government has kept information from the people, under the guise of national security. How much dont we know? Are we , as a people , content with being lied and misled by the government? As an american indian, I can tell you that I am fed up. The government sucks. There needs to be a change, congress wont change. We need to change congress, we need to change the direction this country is going.

    I believe the majority are far beyond the point of needing a reason. If you ask anyone for their opinion it seem 2 out of 3 are beyond fed up with the FED. And truth be told the “terrorists ” probably dont hate us they hate our goverment….. whom in affect is hiding behind us and our “Babies” from the terrorists….we are their shield. I posted because after i read the Declaration of Independance, i could clearly see corruption and a need to nip this bud. It is obviously a noxious weed that if not controlled will take over and eventually ruin the Beautiful Garden bestowed upon us. No one has overthrown a superpower of this beasts magnitude before so we tread on new turf. one way to do it would be to have the majority stand behind one person giving that person authority to “roll heads” of the beast when they rise up to strike. A few weeks of waterboarding in Git Mo should do it…lol.

    Being from the midwest we have been hit harder than the rest of the country with the so called recession, I have worked for 24 years without a lay off and it has all went to hell in the last year, I am being sued by 2 different lawyers offices for default on credit cards, I am now in default on my home loan and my cars will be reposessed i am sure pretty soon. I try and keep a decent attitude about things but what the government does not want is to have to deal with American who have nothing left to loose, Washington is screwing our nation up really bad. Our trade with the rest of the world is a joke, well the joke is on us for letting it happen, we need to rise up and stop the madness, But here is the problem. Most people in our country have not starved enough yet, as long as they have a little money in the pocket books they are OK. The government bailed out the same bank that is forclosing on my home, It just does not make any sense. Any way you slice it weather its taxes, health care, bail outs, home tax credits it does not matter, We the PEOPLE will end up with the smelly end of the stick, As rotten as things are right now there is language on our costitution that would let we the people do away with the government and replace them with people who care about our nation and preserving our way of life, Instead of squandering our national heritage, giving america away to the world.

From the mortgage crisis, which caused Wall Street’s meltdown, to the sky-high oil and gas prices, and the $10 billion a month, we as taxpayers are spending on an endless basis for the debacle in Iraq, which is ultimately the root cause of our economic woes. Economists predicted that the Iraq War would cause a financial crisis for the United States, even before it began. In November of 2002, Yale University professor William Nordhaus was quoted in the Independent as warning that, ‘A war in Iraq could cost the United States hundreds of billions of dollars, play havoc with an already depressed economy and tip the world into recession because of the adverse effect on oil prices, inflation and interest rates.’ This man appears to have been able to predict the future.”
    More than this, now the far-right are trying to blame Obama, as if he had control over Bush’s decision to take us into unnecessary war. Bush’s agenda, as a far right leader, was to bring about the so-called “rapture.” His goal was to cause enough problems to warrant the supposed return of his master dictator “Jesus.” In fact, this was the entire reason that he and his brother Jeb (in Florida at the time) caused a great upheaval in ballot counts and forced Bush into the White House. For example, one writer has said, “From school-prayer guidelines issued by the Department of Education to faith-based initiatives to directives from virtually every federal agency, there’s hardly a place where Bush hasn’t increased both the presence and the potency of religion in American government. In the process, the Bush administration lavishly caters to the very religious right groups that gave us the dubious Christian-nation concept to begin with.”
    Thanks to Bush, our nation now faces one of the most wide-scale problems since the Great Depression. Unemployment is still above 10% nationwide, supposedly the most unemployment in the history of our nation. Banks are bottoming out. Credit card companies are issuing massive changes, including the fact that they can now charge you for not using your card enough. The housing market busted during Bush’s reign of terror. There’s also an energy crisis- because we have always been dependent upon foreign oil, and it just continues to go up in price. And I’m pretty sure Bush got his kickbacks from all of this. As a matter of fact, Ayers, a leader of the Weathermen in the 1960s, wrote, “Industry passed on its problems by increasing unemployment, laying off thousands, and driving up the prices of everything … last hired and first fired, suffer the most immediately. These disruptions to an already stagnating economy have resulted in a serious attack on the basic necessities for masses of people … But the Crisis cannot be contained among the dispossessed –it attacks the common family, the working person. A severe food crisis reflected in the rise of food prices and massive food shortages is emerging. In the wealthiest country in the world, there is a cost of living and it is beyond the reach of millions of people. Inflation and the impact of the energy crisis will be used to drive up this cost to live, especially food prices. There has always been starvation and malnutrition for many in the US -the human consequences of food for profit. As food prices climb and real incomes decline, broad sectors of the population are beset by mounting debt, loss of savings, fear for jobs.” I would almost argue that this man was psychic – that he was another Nostradamus – that he predicted the future. We can see for ourselves now that the same overarching consciousness of that time was eerily similar to what we are seeing today as a result of Bush’s so called “war on terror.”
    There are other issues, too. For example: After extensive testing by various consumer advocate groups it has been proven that there are over 2,100 toxic chemicals in tap water. These chemicals show up in nearly every city in the U.S.A. and are proven cancer causers as well as being the causative agents of other health issues. And the Food and Drug Administration thinks we should drink 8, 8 ounce glasses of it or more “to improve your overall health.” I know – it sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, doesn’t it? But it isn’t. It’s proven fact.
    And what about the fact that none of the right wingers think that gay people should be able to get married? That kind of thinking obviously doesn’t support the constitutional right given to all humans, which is the right to the pursuit of happiness. This kind of discriminatory policy isn’t just impeding on the happiness of individual humans – this kind of legislation has a gigantic effect on the consciousness of the populace. In effect, this kind of legislation is saying, “Because you are not heterosexual, you are less than worthy of the institution of marriage.” As such, it merely stands to reason that non-heterosexuals would also be less than worthy of other things – like healthcare and jobs. How long before the government tells the populace that it is okay to stone to death members of the GLBTQ community?
    And now, in the latest debacle by the conservative-majority Supreme Court, corporations have been given the rights of individual humans! Granted, corporations used to have the right to buy and sell property, to form businesses to make money, and contribute (in a limited way) to their preferred political candidates. Now, however, corporations can give unlimited sums of money to their preferred political candidates! Any wagers on how long it will take before corporations want to outlaw weekends and start dictating what workers can do in their free time? Additionally, before now, large foreign companies have not had a voice in American politics. Now, however, any foreign corporation can establish subsidiaries inside the borders of the U.S., and they now have monetary freedom to push for whatever laws they want to set inside the states. Don’t blame this on Obama, however, because he had nothing to do with it – this is all the doing of the ultra-conservative neo-con Supreme Court. And with multiple Democrats soon retiring from the nation’s capitol, Republicans are making moves for those seats, and that only means that our government is going to become a breeding ground for the Ultra-Conservative Right Wing Christian Agenda.
    If there has ever been a time for revolution, NOW is that time!
    As we rise up to liberate ourselves, the ability of imperialism to maintain a hold over us is starting to crumble. The past rulers of the U.S. have, in order to maintain their power and hold, created privileged sectors among us, and then allowed us to go about fighting with each other over these privileges. It has happened over and over again. These so-called “new” crises in our nation are nothing more than rehashes of the same old issues faced years ago. But the wealth of the entire world is no longer at the disposal of the imperialist – hence, the new corporate campaign funds law enacted by our tyrannical supreme court. They had to find a new way to get more money to line their own pockets – and they don’t really care if that money puts their own people in crisis, as long as it cushions their bank accounts and not ours. As a result of all this, the imperialists in power or that are coming to power are going to further the role of the police state. They will have to in order to attempt to regain control of the masses.
    As Ayers said: “The empire feeds on war. War is necessary for expansion and colonial control, but unsuccessful and unjust war loosens the imperialist’s hold over the home base. As people reclaim their lands and their resources, imperialism is forced to extract more wealth from everywhere it can –where it still can reach in the Third World, from its capitalist allies and competitors, and from the US people.” He goes on to say that, “This is the increasing trend of the 70’s,” but rest assured, this is also the increasing trend of the 2000s. It is 2010, and we are still reaping the unjust corruption and hell that this man predicted. And we will continue to reap the rewards of this corruption, since we will be under corporate rule. Our government operates more like the Mafia now than ever before. As Ayers wrote: “[This is] … the trend of crisis and depression. Our job is to tap the discontent seething in many sectors of the population, to find allies everywhere people are hungry or angry, to mobilize poor and working people against imperialism.” And he is RIGHT! It IS our job to find allies amongst the seething, angry, hungry, poor and hard-working individuals who have suffered the consequences of the unjust actions of a few powerful individuals.
    IT IS TIME FOR A REVOLUTION!
    As for the people of the United States, we have entered into 2009 and 2010 as a people weary of war. All we have seen for decades is war – the Gulf War, the so-called War on Terror, the Iraq War, Afghanistan. We have seen our airports locked down for “reasons of national security.” We have seen paranoia reach a new high. We have seen our nation’s leadership think it’s okay to tap into the private cell phone conversations of the citizens. We’ve seen recession, unemployment such as has not been seen in our nation before, and the government passing out financial salvation to big banks and even larger corporations. And then the rulers of these larger corporations gave themselves massive bonuses, while the workers went on starving and wondering what the hell was next.
    Our lot in the US has been crisis after crisis in the lives of millions of people. Katrina came and went, and the government was unprepared to do its job. Haiti was recently in crisis and the government, once again, sat on its haunches, while we were urged (via television and celebrities) to give our money to Haiti, as if we really could afford such a massive undertaking. (If the rich are so hell-bent on helping people, why didn’t THEY give THEIR money to Haiti? Or better: why don’t they give their money to the American people to solve issues at home first!?)
    The continual onslaught of crisis after crisis isn’t going to get better. The media says “unemployment is declining,” but it is not so. There are still thousands, right here where I live (including myself), unable to find work. Here in Kentucky, it is said that a few more companies are coming to the area that are going to help put people back to work by the hundreds. But the only reason these companies are coming is because of tax breaks (more money for the big corporations)!
    So now, as time continues to march on, and crisis after crisis smacks the American people in the face, we need to organize. We need to organize to survive. We have to support each others’ right to food, shelter, decent health care. Instead of watching the rich bitches on t.v. bicker over whether Tiger Woods is entitled to forgiveness for his adultery, we need to focus on the fact that we are suffering. All of this televised crap is nothing more than a distraction. Whether Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters realize it or not, they are simply playing into the hands of the people who want us to be complacent.
    IT IS TIME FOR A REVOLUTION!
