McCain energy plan: $30 billion in government funding to coal producers
John McCain is planning to spend $30 billion dollars in government money on clean coal technology if he becomes president. McCain also plans to build 45 more nuclear power plants.
McCain’s energy plan would spend $2 billion a year through 2024 in taxpayer support for research and development of clean- coal technologies.
His presidential campaign’s energy program calls for new nuclear plant construction, but doesn’t promise taxpayer support. McCain said he would consider government “guarantees” to encourage nuclear-power development, but declined to provide specifics. “
But what about oil McCain? We need to push more toward drilling in this country to lessen the burden on foreign oil while we work on developing other fuels such as coal.
