America needs a “New Revolution” to minimize government intrusion
America, we need to start a “New Revolution”, a revolution to minimize the intrusion of government into our everyday lives. It is vital for the citizens of The United States of America to recognize two factors that will accomplish this:
1) We need to pass the Fair Tax Act. What is the Fair Tax? The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.
* Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
* Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
* Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
* Allows American products to compete fairly
* Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
* Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
* Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
* Abolishes the IRS
Bill Archer, former head of House Ways and Means Committee did a survey on the fair tax. The survey was conducted among 500 European companies. One simple question was asked, ” What would you do if the U.S. installed the FairTax.” The responses where astounding. Four hundred said they would build their next plant here. The remaining one hundred said they would move their corporate headquarters here. My guess is that this would be just the tip of the iceberg as to what would follow. Our current tax code does the exact opposite. Product labels would contain the same foreign corporate names but the labels would also contain ” MADE IN THE U.S.A.”
For more info on the Fair Tax. Link.
2) We need to set Congressional term limits. Why term limits? This is the issue that separates American citizens, who want to recapture their government, from a careerist-dominated Congress and its illegitimate bureaucratic offspring, who want to run our lives. No more pork barreling!
For more info on term limits. Link.
To contact your congressman click here.
To enact the Fair Tax and unleash the full economic potential of the U.S., we must apply Vocal and Persistent pressure on Congress each week or every day. Email them this simple message: “Please support replacing the federal income tax code and become a co-sponsor of HR 25 or S 1025, the Fair Tax.”
To enact Congressional term limits email this simple message each week or everyday: “As an American citizen, I feel that Congress, whose arrogant spending has bankrupted our nation and destroyed our currency, who sets its own self-authored six-figure pay plus perquisites and pensions as if compensation were to be calculated based on its irresponsible spending rather than on prudent governance and has created a counter-productive envy-based tax system which penalizes extra effort and success, can no longer be tolerated. We need to pass a Constitutional Amendment for Congressional term limits.”
I recently did a blog on a small country in Europe, Estonia, and America can certainly learn a lesson from this little, but prosperous country. Link.
I would also like to create a petition to give to Congress on the FairTax Act, Congressional term limits and voting power to vote elected officials out of office.

Great idea Kevin, however you can’t rely on Congress to enact these changes. We need a complete new start, these career politicians are not going to enact laws that hurt them and their constituents. We need a new American Revolution that fires all these corrupt lawmakers and ensures fair and trustworthy elections. Relying on corrupt politicians to prevent corruption is like asking a criminal to go to jail; ain’t gonna happen!

Kevin, what you describe is not a revolution, just a sideways tweaking of the current corrupt system. Why do you want to give the Federal Govt ANY MONEY AT ALL? They just use it against you. Taxes on labor = SLAVERY. Yet your biggest hope is to be a slave with slightly less paperwork. Pathetic.

Our goal of NO TAXES will not and cannot be reached without being done in incremental stages. Passage of the FairTax could be the first step towards that goal. Kevin is absolutely right about what needs to be done. With 72 current sponsors in congress, the FairTax already has great national awareness and acceptance. Although the main thoughts of the Libertarian party are just and admirable they are, for the most part, beyond the comprehension of the average citizen.
There are many different groups trying to get congress to listen to them. None to date have been as successful as the FairTax supporters. If all these groups including the Libertarian Party would unite to get the FairTax passed, this would be the first step in returning power to the people. Once the people get the FairTax passed, that same unified front could work on other things, such as term limits. The” It will never happen” mindset must be changed to “let’s get it done”. Any viable member of the Libertarian Party should know that it was a relatively small percentage of Americans that actually wanted to revolt against England. When members of congress feel their jobs are in jeopardy, then they listen to the people. If they think their jobs are safe they could care less. The Democrats and the Republicans unite against us, We The People. We must unite against them !
Our stance, meaning the Libertarian Party, sometimes reminds me of a little child trying to hold it’s breath till it gets what it wants. Let’s not hold our breath. Let’s scream until the FairTax is law. Then we’ll scream again and again till our Founding Fathers hear us.

Ron Paul has been an advocate for no taxes. Join the Revolution. http://www.ronpaulforpresident2008.com/news/

Sounds good to me, the only problem is getting it implemented. Fat chance that will happen.

Your term limit question did not include the option I prefer, no artificial arbitrary term limits.
We already have term limits, we call them Elections. Any arbitrary term limits besides that would be an unnecessary limit on my ability to vote for who I want to vote for. I think this is a freedom of speech issue, term limits are an unconstitutional limit on my rights as a voter.

Amy,
Since you prefer the current system, may I ask you if you are aware of the adverse affect the 17th amendment has had on this country?
July 2nd, 2008 at 10:26 am
Eric,
I’m well aware of what Ron Paul supports. I’m also aware of how he was trashed by the media. Did you read my previous post? Stop holding your breath and start screaming. Let’s get the FairTax passed first. Then we can start on no taxes.

We got to revolt. Too many restrictions on personal liberties have taken away our supposed “rights” as Americans. Nobody seems to give a damn though. We are more comfortable being “secure” in our lives with all the Goddamn safety nets there are, than to be free. Nobody is willing to fight, or at least not enough are. This is horse shit, the way you can’t do a Goddamn thing without government intrusion. WTF, I only got one life to live and it aint any good living it in chains.

Idiots of ignorance. Your Neo Conservative - Neo Liberal - Milton Friedman ideology will never work in the real world. Your as bad as the Utopian Communist idealists. The world is not simple and simple ideas fail when you scale it up to modern standards.
The fact is, all modern successful Governments and societies use mixed economies that factor in common sense social programs for human compassion, self-preservation law enforcement and regulation to preserve fairness and balance for each individual.
Without common sense approaches that take in all of man’s good and bad driving emotions we would end up with extremism that will always benefits but a few. As any student of history can see.
John Adams framed our Government

That’s a very silly idea.
Imagine the nightmare of the tax enforcement bureaucrats tracking every purchase everyone makes so they can effect this progressive, graduated sales tax.
The only solution is no taxes and a thorough strengthening of the Constitution along with the dismantling of all government functions not explicitly mandated by the US Constitution.
The prosperity and freedom that would come alive in this environment is indescribable. We became the richest nation in the world very quickly in a much more technically limited time because we were free. In todays world of technological wonder our economic growth and improvement of life beyond our wildest dreams. America would once again be the most admired country in the world.
With the internet people around the world will see what freedom brings and affect change in their own countries. This never happened in the past due to the lack of easy communication and access to information. In an online world change happens infinitely faster than in the past.
You’re all welcome to say I’m an idealist or just plain wrong but why would you? Even if it’s 1% as good as I think it would be it’s still well worth making happen. So do something, anything you can to spread the word of what could possibly be our future and maybe we’ll call get lucky.

I agree 100% its time for a new Revolution. I mean a real revolution, not some contract with America crap. It’s time we formed a new Citizen Military armed ourselves to the hilt and crashed the big party in Washington, hanging everyone of the traitors who have torn this nation down. There are only a handful of politicians in Washington who should not be hung. We need to tear the government apart and start over. The Federal governments only duty is National Defense period, everything else should start at the State level and lower. If Obama gets elected we must start the revolution before he is in office takes control of our military and allows Islamic Terrorist to flood this nation. If we are afraid to do this then we must force our states to secede from the Union. Something must be done NOW! The cold winds of tyranny are upon us.

All of these suggestions are valid but way to little way too late. You are talking about bailing out the titanic with a tin can here. We are unarmed asking the guys with the guns to “put the weapons down or else”. They have all of the power. Why on earth would they give up anything? During the revolution of the 1770’s we were forced into making a decision. This was something that people were committed to and believed in. We don’t believe in anything in this country anymore. As long as our master keeps Wal-Mart open and keeps feeding us we are content. We have reality TV, why do we need liberty? Change will not come from a fake politician or hope that our current system will suddenly correct itself unprovoked.
Change will only come from civil unrest, forcing people out of office, dismantling essential infrastructure, and MAKING change.
Soon, things in this country will disintegrate to a point that people awaken from their apathy and change will begin. This is happening in Greece and other places in the world. We in America simply just do not have the intestinal fortitude to take the steps necessary to affect change.
I am personally keeping my ear to the ground waiting for the modern day “shot heard round the world”. Something has to act as a catalyst.
For those who believe that we cannot stand against our current system just look at the Iraqi’s. After we invaded their country they adapted very well against our technologically advanced Armed forces. I know, I was there, twice. Victory comes from deep seated desire to defend something not from a paycheck or a mission statement. I can guarantee you that every one of the Iraq’s I saw every day wanted to kill me way more than I wanted to kill them. I was ordered to be there, they were defending their families and their county. How many Americans do you know that would be willing to strap a bomb to their waist and walk into the enemy? We aren’t even willing to stop on the side of the road and help an old lady with a flat tire.
On the day when our “representatives” in government took some of the 700 billion dollars that they stole from us and gave it to a private industry who couldn’t balance the books I ask, what is it going to take?

this was a great country. But the revolution did not come about as soon as the brits landed here. It was their children/grandchildren. Start raising your children to revolt. Teach them/ tell them the ugly, angry, feeling hurting truth. No more lies. that means the fairy tales of the past must die with us. One of the most powerful if not THE most powerful tool of the oppressers is religon. It must go the way of the dodo. I am not saying destroy faith. Just destroy the lies. It is time for a true revolution, For this to happen all of the comforts that keep the majority quiet need to be destroyed. This is Key. I belive that will make us stronger. We ALL have grown weak sucking on the tit of the fat bloated corporation government. We ween our selfs off and our children will be free of that sleep inducing milk. Then true change can happen. I would love for it to happen now but for it to be effective must be instilled into our children. Save our children from corporate slavery, we will be slaves till our children free us and themselves.
January 10th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
It if far to late for a revolution. The only real way to end this mess is to stop having children. Without people there is no need for government. This government has been using it’s citizens as slaves for decades. This democracy is only set up for the super rich and powerfull.

ITS TO LATE….WE CANT….FAT CHANCE……CANT BE SAVED
IM GLAD THOSE BEFORE US DID NOT HAVE THIS ATTITUDE
OR WE WOULD NOT HAVE A COUNTRY TO TAKE BACK
IN THE BEGINNING OF A CHANGE THE PATRIOT IS A SCARCE MAN, AND BRAVE,
AND HATED AND SCORNED. WHEN HIS CAUSE SUCCEEDS, THE TIMID JOIN HIM,
FOR THEN IT COST NOTHING TO BE A PATRIOT.

IF WE GIVE UP HOW WILL WE EVER
BE ABLE TO LOOK OUR CHILDREN IN
THE EYES WHEN THEY ASK WHAT
WE DOING THAT WAS MORE
IMPORTANT THAN PRESERVING
THEIR FREEDOM.

All the talk in this world isnt gonna change anything! Its time for someone to step up and find away to bring us all together to fight for our true America!Action not words is what is needed!!!!!!!

Only one way to radically change the governments direction. It cannot be done through peace talks and mediation. Blood is the only way real change can occur. You are all kidding yourselves if you think anything will change. You have two choices. 1. You ignore the signs and hope your disneyland life continues or 2. Buy all the guns and munitions you can get your hands on. Learn to make IED’s. All the information you could ever want is at your finger tips… google will teach you all you need to know. I myself choose option 2.
Have a great day… Just remember your running out of time.
PS. If you are reading this that meant it got approved… I highly doubt they will let my comment post, wouldn’t want to be seen as radicals:)

TLFT = Term Limits; Fair Tax = Today’s Liberation From Tyranny
April 10th, 2009 at 12:29 am
How will this happen you ask? Just look inside and the answer will come to you. We all agree that the government took a step in the right direction in 1776, but they still had factions who were loyal to the procedures of late 18th century Britain. There were some, right after we won against King George III, who wanted to model our ECONOMY from the very enemy we were revolting against. Just look at your next $10 bill. There was a recognized fight against this sort of economical taxation philosophy. There were political manifestos, campaigning, and eventually duels resulting in death that resulted from these governmental fame vs freedom factions. This war debt never ending spending is a lesson in SERFDOM 101. It ensures a never ending tax (FEDERAL) that takes just enough, with key interest rate tweeks by the FEDERAL RESERVE, to keep 90% of population just above water until the FEDERAL RESERVE funders yank out the money to start every recession, depression, downturn, corporate downsize, etc..which in turn causes everyone to take losses. But the minority who has vast wealth will hold out longer. That allows the 10% of worldly wealth holders to keep their STRANGLEHOLD on the 90% slaves. Is there a new hybrid government that we can mutate this 1776 step in the right direction? Could it be some sort of SOCIAL ANARCHISM? Possibly. It may not be a bad thing to have organized ANARCHY. Or maybe civilized ANARCHY would be a better term. Tell your children not to swallow this marshmallow sugar coated corporate revisionist history that has been status quo since the industrial revolution. Tell your children how to question authority and still keep virtuous. VIRTUE is key. Who do you think is directing all the internet PORN traffic? Who controls this new mind candy industry? Have you read your local COUNTERINTELLIGENCE reports lately brought to you by our friendly CIA? Stay virtuous and it will win out against the corrupt corporatiocongrepresidenjudicial behemoth. The time will come.

Yeah I don’t see a revolution here, just more political jargon. The american revolution was NOT A WAR. The american revolution was the change from “no taxation without representation” (which was appeasement to the king) to “deriving just powers from the consent of the governed” (a complete break with past tradition.) Lowering taxes is not a revolution, by any means.
April 23rd, 2009 at 8:24 pm
I see it a bit differently. In my opinion the Revolutionary War was exactly that. The war was fought to overcome the British collecting taxes without giving the people a voice. Taxation without representation.
The unrest that is thus far just political rhetoric is not just about eliminating or lowering taxes. It is, in fact, the people of America speaking out about their dissatisfaction with unbridled Federal spending, willful disregard for the Constitution, politicians who do not represent the will of the people that put them in office, and a government that is unwilling to provide secure borders for it’s Citizens.
The Revolutionaries spent months, if not years, having quiet meetings in back rooms and pubs before they actually took their dedication and convictions to the British. I firmly believe it will happen again. Sooner than one might think.
The election process is a great process but special interests, corruption, and the elimination of the common person from the process have nullified real results. It is time for a fresh start. It is time to get back to what made this country what it was in the first place.
I do not believe it is a revolution. It is civil unrest and will ultimately result in civil uprising if not war. I don’t need to quote Thomas Jefferson or any of his contemporaries to make my point here. Everyone who believes in this country and the Constitution already knows what our Founding Fathers had to say about an oppressive government. They laid the foundation for a great government and cautioned about what would be necessary to guarantee it’s continued existence.
When elected officials take it upon themselves to ignore the Constitution just because they feel there is a mandate by their very election it is time to begin anew. When elections become about a specific political party winning, without regard to the responsibilities bestowed on them after the election, it is time to start anew. It is time to remind the government that they represent us, the populace, not special interest and certainly not the rest of the world.
Since FDR and his New Deal we have been much like someone hitting the snooze button over and over. We get the idea that sooner or later we have to wake-up but we choose to put it off for later. Well, it is later. It is time to wake the hell up people. We are already late but maybe, just maybe, not too late.
June 15th, 2009 at 12:31 am
I found this site by googling “new revolution.” I googled that out of desperation, the desire to find something hopeful on the subject. But blogging about it isn’t going to bring about a proportionate needed reaction to rising tyranny. Neither is violence. Our govt’s military is too strong. The sad truth (sorry to have to say this) is that it is too late. we have “overslept.” The “revolution” has already begun, its just not us who’s driven into battle. While we were either complaining, or partying, the “call to battle” went unheard. Why did it go unheard? Because our battle cry is against THEIR “revolution.” This nation is being driven by those who are in control to new evolution, the very evolution we are against.
I know its a hard pill to swallow. But while we were disco dancing in the 80’s, globalization slipped onto the dancefloor in the 90’s. They had the big picture. we didn’t. We were too busy “hoping” for change in a system of government that had long ago planned it’s “revolution.” So, Welcome to the Real Revolution.

It is really time to stop hoping for change in America , and to remove what restricts us from grouping together as a unified power and effecting the needed programs or laws that will put politicians back to where they would serve the public and not themselves.
They are really a powerless lot if we can only muster the strength and determination to remove the deadbeats who number is high and keep only those dedicated to the betterment of our country and its people.
It has already started but many more need to join the causes that will achieve this.
There was a time in a country named America that its people were so proud to say they are part of it. That Country has vanished, however it is possible to start a new America where those in charge would Honor a Constitution that was of the people and for the people.
Was it not Thomas Jefferson that made a statement as to how we should resort to revolution to test the Constitution or the tenets of it??? If I am correct with this statement ,maybe now is the time. It Really is ours to take back.
