Iowans more self sufficient than the people of New Orleans
“Nearly one third of Iowa is already under water and water levels continue to rise,” said U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.
The National Weather Service called flooding in Cedar Rapids a “historic hydrologic event” as the river over-topped its banks at 500-year flood levels, forcing the evacuation of nearly 4,000 homes.
Somehow the people of Iowa have managed to get through this without all the bitching that came from and is still coming from the citizens of New Orleans after Katrina. I wonder why? Is it because most of the people in Iowa know how to take care of themselves unlike the government parasites of New Orleans? Story.

What a load of clap trap! I hope you give the people of the Mississippi flood more support than you are giving people of the Gulf South. I hope the government has gotten its act together. Come to my 80 year old mother’s home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The town, Pass Christian, consists of slabs, trailers and broken homes until this day. But at least it is there. Waveland, Ms. has been wiped off the face of the Earth. There are entire neighborhoods in New Orleans that look like Dresden after the carpet bombing. I guess your life would be easier without hearing about Americans abandoning their own. Sorry to upset your world view. I use to live there myself before my world was destroyed.

Hey Kevin!
This is AwaitingRain from Blog Catalog. I got your shout requesting permission to add my blog to your blogroll. You bet! I’d be honored to be listed. I’ve spent a few minutes checking yours out and will be adding you to my blogroll this evening. Good stuff here.
And yeah, I’m with you on this post. In the midwest you see the true American spirit at work, unlike what was seen in New Orleans. And no looting in the midwest. Amazing!
Have a good weekend.

The difference is how the two populaces responded to adversity. I remember Geraldo Rivera reporting in front of the New Orleans convention center and in the background there was this rising crescendo of voices shouting, “Help us. Help Us. Help us”. I was embarrassed, as I was one who had called New Orleans home for 28 years. I have since moved. Since then they saw fit to reelected William “Dollar Bill” Jefferson and Ray “School Bus” Nagin. Amazing!
