Massachusetts Health Plan costly to taxpayers
I thought that this health plan was going to be a good idea, I guess not. The NY Times did an article on it yesterday with praise, but, it is costing the tax payers of Massachusetts some big time money. That’s not a good thing.
It will cost the tax payers 85% more than originally intended by 2009. Just think about that, it will cost 85% more to the tax payer. So for example if it cost them $100 in taxes it’s gonna cost them $185 now. That must have been a big surprise to the people of Massachusetts.
Hell, I didn’t even know this but the government will make you pay a penalty in Massachusetts if you do not sign up for healthcare coverage!
The state has had to raise its spending estimates on the healthcare program from $472 million to $625 million and from $725 million to $869 million for next year. That is almost double of what they had expected. The newly government-insured people are having a hard time finding a primary care physician. And the number of low-income residents using the emergency room for non-emergency care has actually risen since this program went into place.
For some reason the NY Times thinks that this is a great idea for a nationalized healthcare policy. Even though they do admit that the challenge would be to “keep costs under control and find new sources of revenue.” New sources of revenue? Well, it’s either two things, they’ll come up with a tax on something stupid or steal from the rich and give to the poor.
The bottom line is: Government “F’s” everything up.
And shame on me for actually thinking this plan would work. Story.

Double check your math. I think you mean an extra $0.85 for each dollar spent.
