How has marriage been for gay couples in Massachusetts?
This one is for all you church going, god fearing, “it’s not moral” freaks and homophobics out there who oppose gay marriage. First of all I support gay marriage. Allowing gay marriage doesn’t mean that our civilization is going to end because all men will be married to men and all women will be married to women, it’s not going to work that way. Even if the bible says that it’s not right, who is the bible to judge anyone. Remember, Jesus(who allegedly existed) was judged and how did that turn out for him? NOT GOOD! So if you feel the need to bash gay’s keep your mouth shut, they are human beings too. It’s not the end of the world people. Besides, I would rather have a gay married couple adopt and raise a child than let some punk teenager raise the kid into a thug. Even heterosexual couples have no freaking clue on how to raise a kid, I work out in the public, I’ve seen these events unfold.
But this is a really good article that I found on the web about what has happened 4 years since they passed a law in Massachusetts to allow gay marriage. The problems that they are having in their marriages are just the same problems that heterosexual marriages have. Here is just some quick info to tease you with:
Of the more than 10,500 same-sex couples married here since May 17, 2004, 6,121 wed in the first six months. There were 2,060 weddings in 2005; 1,442 in 2006; and 867 in the first eight months of 2007, the most recent data show.
Did you notice the trend? The marriages went down each year. You have got to read this article. Story.

Agreed. I live in Massachusetts and fully support gay marriage even though I’m straight for the reasons you’ve listed. Further, as our world population continues to exponentially increase gays and lesbians will actually help all of us by taking their reproductivity out of the equation (or at least a majority will). Even better, as you’ve mentioned many gay and lesbian couples adopt and I’d rather those kids have a home with two people of the same gender than spend their lives bouncing around foster homes.
Ironically, it is the religious right who is most adamant against this law, even though their religions supposedly preach tolerance and “loving of neighbors”. I was actually raised Roman Catholic but after seeing the way the church treats poor people (kicking homeless people out of mass) and spends lavish amounts on their decorations and churches and the church-altar boy scandals, well I figured I could do a better job of acting morally on my own!
Think of all the good we could all do if we could put these types of discussions behind us (oh wow, pun not intended) and focus our resources on fighting disease and bringing world peace and ending hunger etc.
What a world.
